KPMG Brasil has just opened startup registration for the international “Global Tech Innovator 2023” award. The objective of the initiative is to recognize fast-growing innovative startups and support technology companies to progress in business and assume market leadership. Applications can be made by any entrepreneur who: has a company registered in Brazil; has been in operation for five years or less in its current form; have generated or expected revenue between US＄1 million and US＄15 million; or have raised at least US＄500k in capital. Candidates need to demonstrate use of innovative technologies, robust business models, traction in operations and potential for expansion. Applications are open until the 24th of July..
“The Brazilian startup ecosystem is increasingly mature and has conditions to lead relevant transformations in the market. We want to contribute to the growth of technology entrepreneurs who are driving unprecedented innovation. This global award establishes a unique networking of startups with great business leaders, investors and influencers in this market. We hope to have the participation of candidates from different sectors and regions. We want to help them leverage more and more business”, says Diogo Garcia, managing partner and leader of KPMG's Emerging Giants Program at the end of the Tech Innovator Award in Brazil.
Each startup selected in the first phase will have 10 minutes to present itself and answer questions from renowned jurors in the market in a special session in September 2023. Regarding the evaluation criteria, each competitor will be judged by experts from the sector and from KPMG and scored on six criteria: disruption and innovation, market potential, customer adoption, market and marketing traction, long-term potential, and presentation quality (pitch).
The Brazilian winner will be announced in early September and will participate in the final stage of the award in Lisbon, Portugal, in November, when representatives from 25 countries and territories will have the opportunity to present their growth plans to an international panel of judges.

Participating startups will have the opportunity to present their growth plans to experts who lead this market and are ready to provide practical innovation and entrepreneurship guidance. In addition, the winners will have access to a global ecosystem aimed at business growth, with innovative technologies, robust operating models and the potential to reach a global scale”, says Jubran Coelho, leading partner of the Private Enterprise and Business Consulting area at KPMG in Brazil and South America.
Only one startup will be the final winner of the competition, which will be considered a technological leader and one of the most innovative companies in the world. In addition, the winning companies from each country will be featured in KPMG's “Winners Report”, and will be able to connect with renowned figures, industry specialists and global influencers in this market.
