Mixed reality and immersive experience device aims to support companies to be more efficient and assertive in their business; Companies in the areas of health and aeronautics are already using the device in their operations
Microsoft Brazil announces that since March 22, HoloLens 2, its mixed reality and immersive experience device, is available in the country. With the announcement, the company reinforces its position of investing in technologies supported by mixed reality, which emerge to add to new remote collaboration scenarios, allowing specialists around the world to work together in physical and virtual environments, reducing costs, flexibility and resources for the industry.
In the presentation of the tool, the company detailed, with practical examples, how the device is already helping organizations to be more assertive and efficient in their business together with Dynamics 365 functionalities for Mixed Reality, a cloud business solution, which can be used with the equipment. Among them, Dynamics 365 Remote Assist, which allows remote audits and inspections with the support of specialist services, making it possible to perform surgeries, for example, with resources to assist in the precision and efficiency necessary for this type of procedure, or maintenance of remote industrial equipment.

With Dynamics 365 Guides it is also possible to promote internal knowledge by sharing and using well-documented processes while interacting with a physical object. So, with Dynamics 365 Mixed Reality applications, companies can empower employees to collaborate with each other for more accurate decision making, increasing productivity.
“With this novelty, we reinforce our position of bringing innovative solutions to help customers in Brazil to do more with less. The possibilities of using mixed reality with HoloLens 2 are immense and we will continue to invest in technologies that can contribute to improving people's lives and helping companies to grow with innovation, optimization and in a sustainable way", says Marcondes Farias, director of products of Dynamics 365 and Power Platform from Microsoft Brazil.
The device that arrives in Brazil is already being used by medical centers in some countries around the world to plan surgeries or to train doctors, surgeons and nurses at a distance, allowing for new approaches.
A practical example of the use of HoloLens 2 in the country, demonstrated during the event, is that of PBSF (Protegendo Cérebros, Salvando Futuros), an organization made up of specialists that envisages using technology and intelligence to prevent neurological sequelae in newborns. -born. PBSF will use Microsoft's device for the assessment of newborns who are at high risk of permanent brain damage (such as children with perinatal asphyxia, premature infants, with heart malformations or other neurological injuries). The company serves more than 40 public and private hospitals throughout Brazil.
According to global data, for example, more than a million babies are born with perinatal asphyxia per year, which can lead to the baby's death or leave sequelae. In Brazil, according to PBSF estimates, 20 to 30 thousand children are born with this condition annually. However, when the doctor acts in time, adopting the appropriate protocol for situations like this, there are more chances of saving lives, minimizing or even eliminating sequelae. In recent years, the institution has assisted more than seven thousand children, but the goal is to be able to monitor all cases of newborns at high risk of brain injury and zero the number of deaths and preventable neurological sequelae.
For this, the company sees the use of HoloLens 2 in Brazil as an important ally for its objective. From now on, the doctor who monitors the newborn will use the Microsoft device to connect with PBSF specialists, based in a surveillance and intelligence center located in São Paulo. The center offers hospitals a monitoring of brain activity, longitudinal education, promoting homogeneity of care for high-risk babies. In possession of the HoloLens 2, professionals will be able to jointly assess the diagnosis and indicate whether the baby needs a specific treatment and which one, increasing diagnostic speed and treatment effectiveness.
The intention is for HoloLens to empower the ICU professional. “Cases of cerebral asphyxia need to be very well evaluated in the first six hours of the baby's life so that we can indicate the most appropriate treatment. The device will be essential to improve the quality of treatment, as we gain agility, which is essential to save children's lives”, says Doctor Gabriel Variane, CEO and founder of PBSF.
The first hospital to use HoloLens 2 will be Santa Casa de São Paulo and the feature will be offered to PBSF's other partner health institutions. “The solution will help us to offer the best treatment to the largest number of children, in Brazil and in the world, including in remote or difficult-to-reach regions. For us, it is essential that all children, whether they are treated in public or private hospitals, have the chance to benefit from the use of technology for qualified assistance. Diagnostic time is crucial for the treatment of babies to be effective, and with the remote assistance of the mixed reality device, we will be able to gain valuable minutes or hours. In a short window of opportunity to avoid consequences that could last a lifetime, we can say that Time is Brain!”, concludes the doctor.
Today's announcement is part of a series of initiatives that are part of Microsoft Mais Brasil, a comprehensive plan, launched in October 2020, which aims to contribute to the country's growth on three fronts: Education, professional training and employability; Enabling the digital economy through technology and Sustainable growth and social impact.
The availability of HoloLens 2 in Brazil is part of the Enabling the Digital Economy through Technology pillar, providing Brazilian companies with the tools and services needed to drive digital transformation and innovation across industries.
