After creating, in the middle of last year, VicOne – a subsidiary dedicated to the safety of electric and connected vehicles -, Trend Micro, world leader in cybersecurity solutions, takes another step to elevate digital security by establishing a new subsidiary, CTOne, focused on advancing 5G network security.
“Trend Micro has been at the forefront of network transformations for more than three decades. 5G technology has enabled the creation of new features and applications that require a new cybersecurity infrastructure. With our vision and more than six years of networking technology research, we are confident that CTOne will protect organizations in all 5G environments,” said Eva Chen, CEO of Trend Micro.
Organizations need to integrate resources to more effectively combat emerging threats in private 5G networks. By pre-deploying a security network, CTOne strengthens the digital resiliency of vertical and application fields, ensuring the security of landing applications in private 5G network environments and comprehensive protection from network to endpoint.
Low latency, higher bandwidth and high density features have driven many organizations to adopt private 5G networks. According to consultancy Grand View Research*, the global 5G private network market size was valued at US$ 1.38 billion in 2021, with an expected growth of around 49% in 2023. Private 5G networks are considered the standard of safer wireless communication. However, with the widely used structure of O-RAN (Open Radio Access, i.e. open radio access network), with the proliferation of cloud networks, open source software and variety of IoT devices, the 5G environment is facing more cyber threats than ever before.
“Safety today is no guarantee of safety tomorrow. While the communications technology market is growing, business operations are exposed to more complex risks. CTOne enables enterprises to secure private 5G networks against potential cyberattacks and build an ecosystem of high-quality industrial applications. Going forward, we will collaborate with partners to maximize the benefits of private 5G with comprehensive security solutions,” said Jason Huang, CEO of CTOne.
In addition to end-to-end private 5G network security solutions, CTOne is also developing O-RAN and edge computing to help companies mitigate cyber risk when deploying new technologies.
