The event reinforces its global character and counts on the performance of countries from all continents of the world

Great highlight of South Summit Brazil, the Startups Competition arrives in its second edition breaking records. In all, there were more than two thousand startups registered, double the volume reached in the previous year. Originating from 86 countries such as Azerbaijan, United States, Israel, Spain, Germany, Cameroon, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Australia, Ukraine, Pakistan, Chile, Colombia and Argentina, the wide membership corresponds to 44% from the countries of everyone and reinforces the global character of the event. Among the national companies, representatives of 92% from the Brazilian states are confirmed, with emphasis on Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro and Santa Catarina. The deadline for registration ended on the 16th of January and projects from any sector and at any stage of development were accepted. ABES is an institutional supporter of the event and intensely participated in the dissemination of the Startup Competition.
After enrolling, participants will go through a selection process carried out by a committee of renowned national and international experts, based on criteria such as innovation, feasibility, scalability, sustainability, team, in addition to the interest of potential investors. Finalists will have the opportunity to present their projects in person and will be able to access an exclusive network, with the possibility of 1:1 meetings with investors and corporations in search of innovation. In the end, five startups will win in the following categories: Featured; More Sustainable; More Scalable; Most Innovative; and Best Team. In addition to participation in the event and wide visibility in the media, they will receive mentoring and guidance to improve their pitch.

And now we expect that after the selection, we will have the most innovative businesses on the planet on our stage”, says Thiago Ribeiro, CEO of South Summit Brazil.
Rio Grande do Sul is represented with 26% of registered startups and the acting governor, Gabriel Souza, points out that the numbers reflect the interest of entrepreneurs and consolidates the importance of the edition held in Rio Grande do Sul. “Our objective is precisely this: to connect startups, global investment funds and companies, in addition to acting as a showcase for Brazilian businesses to the world”, reinforces Souza, who is the coordinator of the Special Projects Office, of which the South Summit Brazil is part.
Held globally for 10 years, more than USD 10 billion has been invested by funds in registered startups and many of them have become leaders in their sector such as Cabify, Glovo and Wallbox. The forecast is that more than 100 funds will be present in the Brazilian edition in 2023. The South Summit Brazil 2023 takes place from March 29th to 31st, in Porto Alegre, and tickets are available on the official website.
