Initiative by the Government of the State of São Paulo, in partnership with a technology company, aims to teach students from Etecs and Fatecs, in addition to the general population, about Low-Code development

The Information Technology market suffers from a shortage of trained professionals. Of the 159 thousand vacancies open for the sector in 2021, only 53 thousand professionals graduated, according to a survey by Brasscom (Association of Information and Communication Technology and Digital Technologies Companies). One of the ways is to invest in professional courses to meet the demand and this is a way to promote opportunities for many young people.

Keeping an eye on this scenario, Centro Paula Souza (CPS) and GeneXus, a global developer of Low-Code solutions, are promoting the opening of 500 places for the free online course on low-code technology, which is carried out through the Minha Chance Program, an initiative of the Government of the State of São Paulo through the Secretariat of Economic Development (SDE).

To participate, you just need to be at least 18 years old, have basic computer skills, and be a student at Technical Schools (Etecs) and Technology Colleges (Fatecs) in the State of São Paulo. The program is also open to the general population. The link to register for this partnership course has not yet been released.

In this partnership, GeneXus will provide all teaching materials, licenses for its Low-Code tool and the certification exam, while Centro Paula Souza will be responsible for managing the course, creating classes, monitoring students and analysis of the results, which can generate recommendations from students for job openings available at GeneXus or partner companies.

According to Prof. Dr. João Carlos Lopes Fernandes, coordinator of the Minha Chance program, the opening of extracurricular courses in partnership with recognized companies seeks to meet the deficit in filling vacancies in the IT area within a new vision of technical training, which now has its space due to few graduated professionals.

“GeneXus is one of the first Low-Code platforms, developed more than 30 years ago, and which has been following changes in languages and the market. Today, with the lack of IT professionals, we see GeneXus as an option for people to enter the sector, whether through their first job or professional relocation”, comments Fernandes.

In this new stage, GeneXus believes that the Minha Chance program will have the possibility of generating job retraining, as it is not necessary to have in-depth computer knowledge to become a low-code specialist. “The union of the CPS with the GeneXus community has synergy and will be a great contribution to inserting students and the population of São Paulo into the IT market or even promoting entrepreneurship”, concludes Ricardo Recchi, country manager at GeneXus Brazil, Portugal and Cape Verde .
