Presentation by Mariane Guerra, Vice President of Human Resources at ADP in Latin America

To understand what were the main changes that are happening with the management of Human Resources in companies and actions that can be taken by leaders, the ABES CONFERENCE 2021 - EXPONENTIAL WAVES AND DIGITAL RESILIENCE, organized in partnership with The Shift portal, dedicated the third day of the event (09/16) to analyze the Human Factor. The event has platinum sponsorship from Oracle and master sponsorship from Amazon Web Services (AWS), IBM, Sky.One Solutions, TOTVS and CAESBRA.

The opening of the schedule was carried out by Mariane Guerra, Vice President of Human Resources at ADP in Latin America, with the theme “Resilience and engagement in a decade of continuous change: HR as a key player in the digital transformation”. Faced with a scenario of uncertainty, caused by the global health crisis, the question that is asked is: how can HR place itself as a key player in maintaining the team's engagement?

“The pandemic anticipated a future movement. Digital transformation is a very important agenda for all organizations, regardless of their area of expertise. For this reason, at this time of implementation of a Digital HR linked to the face-to-face resumption process, I want to share guidelines for area managers to deal with this scenario of changes and consolidation in companies”, said the executive.

In the opinion of the HR specialist, innovation doesn't just happen in startups or within product labs. “Innovation is also done in companies. It must be present in our daily lives, in all processes, services and partnerships. Finding different solutions to old problems. With the trampling of the pandemic, countless corporations, regardless of their size, had to adapt and find immediate solutions for their employees, who needed to adapt to remote work and also for their customers. All of this accelerated the plans for the digital areas in 2 to 3 years”, he pondered.

For Mariane Guerra, engagement is the professional's bond with the work that the employee performs and with the organization where he/she is inserted. “This connection is not established by the contract. We are talking about a psychological, affective and emotional bond with the job. This feeling will only be aroused if there is trust in the direct management and/or in the company's leadership”, he clarified.

The executive, who in 2020 was named 'HR Executive of the Year in Latin America', is emphatic that trust generates engagement that generates resilience. “Trust in the leadership, in the corporation, is essential to generate engagement and manage to develop resilience in the individuals that make up the company. How to do this? Never omit important information, always communicate, be transparent, be open to listen to pain, pay attention to diversity. All of this together produces consistency”, concludes Mariane Guerra.

ABES CONFERENCE 2021 – EXPONENTIAL WAVES AND DIGITAL RESILIENCE took place on September 14, 15 and 16 in digital and free 100% format. The event had its programming organized in daily thematic tracks: digital resilience, business environment and human factor, respectively.
