New partnership seeks to exploit retail's great potential for innovative technologies, in addition to developing new end-to-end products – including a self-checkout with RFID technology

Seal Sistemas, a reference in the mobile computing and automatic data capture sector, signed a strategic partnership agreement with Laurenti, an octogenarian company specialized in the development of intelligent solutions, aiming to explore the great potential of the retail market for innovative technologies.

With this partnership, the companies will work in an integrated manner to implement 4.0 retail projects (which introduce new technologies to the purchase process, balancing the physical store with digital channels), one of the partnership's great differentials. The initiative also includes the creation of new products for the end-to-end segment, from the back office to the front line. For example, the development of a new self-checkout with RFID is already on the radar – an ATM equipped with radio frequency identification technology.

“The alliance with Laurenti is a movement that expands Brazilian retailers' access to major global trends in the sector, such as self-service and automated service. This is yet another strategic partnership that complements our portfolio and strengthens our position as an integrator of complete and innovative solutions for the entire distribution chain”, says Wagner Bernardes, CEO of Seal Sistemas.

Previously focused on automation for the printing industry, with a focus on electronic pre- and post-press processes, Laurenti evolved into the manufacture of bank ATMs (ATMs) in the 1990s before migrating to retail automation equipment – the sector that responds for most of its turnover in Brazil. Today, the company develops self-checkouts, self-service terminals and smart lockers for supermarkets, cash-and-carry stores, home centers and pet shop chains, among others.

“Our alliance with Seal is another big step that Laurenti takes to strengthen and solidify its presence in the national retail market as one of the great automation suppliers. This partnership will accelerate the development and sale of solutions to serve the sector in all its operations, from the distribution center to the store. In addition, together, we are going to contribute to the evolution of the commercial automation process in the country”, says Luis Fernando Laurenti, CEO of Laurenti.
