AWS, the most comprehensive and widely adopted cloud platform in the world, launches new episodes of Startup Founders Stories. In the series, executives at the head of some of the biggest startups in Brazil and Latin America tell us about their challenges, objectives and innovations made possible by the use of AWS services.
With each new episode, CEOs and CTOs share their journeys and provide insights into entrepreneurship and the market in which they operate. Kovi, a car rental startup for application drivers, is the first guest of 2021. In the coming months, SkyAlert entrepreneurs from Mexico will participate in the Startup Founders Stories; from Riaño Producciones, from Colombia; and the Brazilian Wine and Méliuz.
In Kovi's participation, co-founder and CTO João Costa tells details about the company's strategy, the reasons that led to the creation of a fleet of rental vehicles dedicated exclusively to application drivers and the importance of technology for the operation. “We realized that the main expense that the driver has today for his daily life is the car itself, as a work tool. Maintenance, fuel, insurance, all of these items generate a very high cost for them. Kovi was born from the need for the driver to have a good tool to work with, ”explains João in one of the videos already available on the platform. The complete story is divided into three episodes: ideation and product; innovation and technology; and team and investment.
Launched in 2019, Startup Founders Stories has already counted on the participation of startups such as the Brazilian Nubank, Creditas, Guiabolso and RD Station, in addition to the Colombian Rappi, the Mexican Wizeline, the Argentine Ualá, among others. With the initiative, AWS intends to promote success stories of entrepreneurs in Latin America and continue to discuss the importance of startups in different sectors of the region, from education to mobility.
AWS Initiatives
The Startup Founders Stories series reinforces AWS's position in contributing to the development of entrepreneurs and innovative ideas by supporting and encouraging startups. AWS Activate, which offers up to US$ 100 thousand in credits to be used in AWS services, in addition to training and support, has already contemplated global startups, such as Airbnb and Slack, and the Brazilian Nubank and Zoop. In addition to it, AWS EdStart is another initiative of the company and acts as an accelerator for educational technology startups, EdTechs.
Brazil already has 16 unicorns, startups worth more than R$1 billion, which highlights the strength of national ventures. According to a study by the organization Distrito, 2020 was a record year of investment in this sector in the country. Together, the Brazilian startups raised US$ 3.5 billion, a growth of 17% when compared to the previous year. The trend is that the market will continue to heat up in 2021, with the growth of startups based on innovative technologies and ideas.
