Governor João Doria inaugurated, on November 25, the beginning of the operations of the IPT Open Experience, which is the cornerstone of the CITI project - International Center for Technology and Innovation, which focuses on the development and application of high-intensity technologies (hardtech). For the state government, the IPT Open is the first action to create a true Brazilian "Silicon Valley" in the state capital.
The IPT Open Experience is aimed at organizations of all sizes and economic sectors that demand innovative solutions. The premises of GranBio, a Brazilian biotechnology company 100%, which operates with the production and licensing of technology for second generation ethanol (2G) and exclusive nanocellulose products, were inaugurated on the IPT campus.
The company participates in the program in the 'Innovation Center' modality and has seven projects, which will be developed in partnership with IPT over the next few years. The contracts for adhesion to the IPT Open Experience of the companies Siemens, Siemens Energy, Kimberly Clark and 3M were also signed, in the 'Innovation Hub' modality.

“The IPT Open Experience dream is part of another dream called CITI, which was a project created by the São Paulo City Hall under my management to create a technology and innovation center to benefit the city of São Paulo. This is the first stage of a project that will materialize with a group of companies, and will expand in the coming years ”, said Doria. “Everything can be done with science and technology, respecting the basic principles. And to innovate is to transform, and to transform demands the courage to oppose those who say it is not possible ”.
TWO MODALITIES - There are two modalities for business participation in the IPT Open Experience, explained the CEO of IPT, Jefferson de Oliveira Gomes: “The first is through an 'Innovation Center', in which each partner company can create a center applied research in the most diverse areas; the other has the format of 'Hub de Inovação ', an environment created to solve technological challenges, develop and incorporate hardtech innovation in the companies' businesses ”. This second form of participation will take place through interaction with startups, researchers, universities, government agencies and other actors in the national ecosystem of science, technology and innovation, with the reduction of costs and terms of open innovation.
