• The companies collaborate to provide an advanced, pre-integrated driver assistance and automated driving system (ADAS/AD) for automakers, offering support from hands-free driving assistance for basic vehicles to automated driving without eyes on the road.
• Introduces Wayve AI Driver as a new AI-powered driving software option for customers using Qualcomm's Snapdragon Ride™ platform and Active Safety software, which is already deployed in automotive programs worldwide and designed to meet global automotive standards.
• It acts as an additional high-performance platform option for ADAS/AD, offering automakers an ideal choice to help accelerate time to market and efficiently deliver scalable and reliable solutions across all vehicle models and levels.
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Wayve announced a technical collaboration that expands the options available to automakers with a ADAS and AD system Advanced and production-ready for automakers worldwide. The collaboration brings Wayve AI Driver as an end-to-end AI driving intelligence layer to Qualcomm Technologies' high-performance, field-proven Snapdragon Ride, which consists of systems-on-a-chip (SoCs) and highly integrated active safety software, offering a pre-integrated system that enables regulatory and no-touch deployment of ADAS, expanding to broader driving environments and no-touch, no-look-at-the-road capabilities. Focusing on simplifying implementation and addressing automakers' priorities regarding safety, reliability, scalability, and time-to-market, the collaboration is generating significant interest from automakers.
“ADAS is where scale, safety, and real-world impact matter most to automakers today,” said Anshuman Saxena, vice president and general manager of ADAS and Robotics at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “Snapdragon Ride was developed to support the broadest range of long-term platform strategies, allowing automakers to standardize programs and regions while maintaining flexibility. Together with Wayve, we are empowering automakers with more options for developing, deploying, and scaling advanced driving systems, also helping them reduce development cycles, effort, and risk.”
“Wayve AI Driver is designed as flexible, vehicle-agnostic software that acts as an intelligence layer for the autonomy of any vehicle, anywhere. Our collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies offers global automakers using Snapdragon Ride a streamlined path to deploy cutting-edge AI-powered automated driving capabilities, along with Qualcomm’s active safety stack,” said Alex Kendall, co-founder and CEO of Wayve. “By combining our embedded AI driving intelligence with Qualcomm Technologies” computational performance, platform maturity, and global scale, we are expanding options and delivering immediate value to automakers in ADAS and automated driving systems, with a natural progression from hands-free to eyes-free operation.”
Designed to serve as an advanced ADAS/AD foundation, the pre-integrated platform allows automakers to rapidly deploy advanced and highly capable features while enabling customization, future scalability, and upgrades. By reducing the complexity of integration between the SoC, active safety systems, and AI Driver, automakers can implement advanced and reliable ADAS/AD more quickly and with less time and effort. The system is designed to support global deployment and long-term vehicle lifecycle and platform strategies. As part of the collaboration, Qualcomm Technologies and Wayve intend to explore opportunities to leverage Qualcomm Technologies' SoCs in future Level 4 (L4) robotaxi applications.
The Wayve AI Driver, an AI-driven driving software stack, learns driving behavior directly from large-scale real-world data, enabling adaptive performance across all regions, road types, and driving environments. The Snapdragon Ride with active safety stack brings together Qualcomm Technologies' leadership in automotive computing and high-performance, energy-efficient processing for on-device AI within a safety-certified architecture that includes redundancy, real-time monitoring, and secure system isolation. Snapdragon Ride is built on an open and unified architecture that seamlessly adapts from premium Snapdragon Ride Elite systems to mainstream vehicle platforms. This design helps automakers deliver consistently high performance and robust AI acceleration across different vehicle programs and driving capability levels. It's also designed to provide flexibility in system design and integration while addressing the growing need for portability and reuse of software and AI across platforms, levels, and model years.
By pre-integrating Wayve's AI Driver with Snapdragon Ride, automakers gain an additional option for a modern, proven framework to deploy advanced ADAS/AD, as well as providing a path to higher levels of driver capability throughout the vehicle lifecycle. This open approach aims to increase flexibility while reducing costs, complexity, and risks compared to fragmented, closed approaches. This flexibility, combined with scalability, allows automakers to standardize platforms and regions while maintaining the ability to differentiate brand experiences and model levels.
