With intelligent automation, the company increased operational efficiency in critical processes, boosting the volume of files processed and the accuracy of financial data.

MDS Brasil, one of the country's leading brokers in insurance, reinsurance, risk consulting, and a leader in health and benefits, collaborated with IBM and systems integrator CXP to implement an intelligent automation and artificial intelligence (AI) solution that transformed its financial statement reconciliation process. The initiative generated significant gains in scale and accuracy, reduced operational costs, and greater predictability for the business.

Operating in a complex environment that demands the processing of large volumes of data from various insurance companies, MDS faced challenges related to accuracy and manual reconciliation. With the use of AI, the company achieved significant results, such as an increase of 750% in the number of financial files processed per day, reconciliations performed ten times faster, and 97.6% of accuracy in financial data, a level far above what is traditionally observed in the market.

To support this new level of performance, IBM, in conjunction with CXP, designed a solution based on IBM Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and the IBM Document Processing Engine (DPE), with AI technology, hosted on the IBM Cloud and integrated with an SQL Server database. This combination enables automatic data extraction, application of business rules for standardization and classification, real-time validation and centralized information storage, as well as the generation of analytical reports and dashboards that increase process visibility and accelerate decision-making.

The developed architecture enables the intelligent extraction of data from statements issued by multiple insurance companies, significantly accelerating the process and drastically reducing execution time. With intelligent automation, in addition to achieving greater accuracy and operational efficiency, MDS now offers its clients faster access to consolidated financial information and comprehensive analyses, strengthening its responsiveness and expanding its competitive advantage in the market.

“The combined use of RPA and intelligent document automation demonstrates the power of AI applied to complex operational processes. This partnership with MDS and CXP is an example of how IBM technology can accelerate business transformation, generate rapid return on investment, and scale intelligently,” says Fabricio Lira, Director of AI and Data at IBM Brazil.

“This new collaboration opportunity between CXP Brazil and IBM was essential to drive the evolution of MDS Brazil's operations, ensuring efficiency, resource and cost optimization, and above all, predictability, a key characteristic in the insurance market,” says Walter Rodrigues, COO of CXP Brazil. “The combination of IBM technologies with the implementation expertise of CXP specialists delivered significant results for the company, which expanded its ability to interpret files with lower costs and automated processes.”

Raphael Luna, IT executive director at MDS Brasil, highlights that the company is undergoing a digital transformation focused on efficiency, precision, and scalability.

“"The solution developed with IBM and CXP was crucial in automating a critical business process, freeing up our teams to focus on more strategic and higher value-added activities."”
